My friend has said to me that his, “pain is not for him.” I’ve adopted this mindset. Sometimes, our roadblocks need to be shared in order to help others. Something I’ve learned in this walk with the Lord is that it’s okay to not be okay. I’m laughing here with some gallows humor, because I didn’t learn it the easy way. We’re talking trial by fire over and over again, surrendered pride, abraded pride really. Okay, more like just running oneself through a cheese grater. The kind of “dying inside” that teen-agers sometime experience for a season, being mortified.
Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. I didn‘t realize it at the time, wasn’t even aware of it, but “dying inside” soon became dying to self.
